About the translator

Born and raised in England, currently living in Paris, I use my native English as well as French on a daily basis.

I hold a Master’s degree in technical, economic and editorial translation (French and Spanish to English, first‑class honours) from the ESIT Graduate School for Translators and Interpreters in Paris. The theoretical skills I acquired there on translation methodology and research skills were complemented by three years as an in‑house Regulatory Affairs translator for a global pharmaceutical company, which afforded me a deep understanding of industry‑specific requirements. Before that, my undergrad in modern languages (French, German and Italian) and my consequent Erasmus travels (Quiberon/Nice, Osnabrück and Trieste) gave me the foundations for the linguistic and cultural skills I need to provide proper, professional translation services.

What makes me stand out?

I’ve had the privilege of being involved in every link of the translation process over the beginning of my career – my experience as a translator, as a reviser, as a project manager, and as a client working with both agencies (big and small) and freelancers has given me a thorough insight into the industry as a whole, what works well and what needs tweaking.

Furthermore, my background from a city in northeast England, my time as a teacher of “standard” English and my keen interest in linguistics has made me a stickler for “appropriate” English. It is important to note that language cannot be “wrong”, simply unfit for a given circumstance. Every field has its terms, every society has its turns of speech, and a translation using correct but context‑inappropriate terms will stick out like a sore thumb. Your audience will expect you to speak in a certain way, depending on who you are, where they are, and what you’re telling them. I can make sure that you speak to them in that way.
